Quinta Brunson is the New Queen of Sitcom!

Rising sitcom actress, Quinta Brunson has been making a statement with her hit show Abbott Elementary. Brunson was inspired to write Abbott Elementary by her mother, who is a city teacher. The fictional school name was based on one of Brunson’s favorite teachers, Joyce Abbott. Abbott Elementary is about a group of passionate teachers
who all work together at a public school in Philadelphia. The group of teachers is dedicated to their jobs of making their students’ lives successful despite the fact that they are underfunded and outnumbered. The sitcom is a mix of mockumentary and has some workplace comedy tied in. Abbott Elementary aired on December 7, 2021, and has already been renewed for a second season in March 2022. This new hit show can be streamed on streaming services such as Hulu and HBO max.

Quinta Brunson was born on December 21, 1989, and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Quinta’s name means “fifth” in Spanish and it signifies that she is the youngest out of five children. She has been a fan of sitcoms since she was a kid which has led her to the career path she is at now. While in college at Temple University she was studying marketing but dropped out to pursue her dream of becoming an actress.

Brunson is also a twin and her sister is a talented woman of many professions which include writer, producer, comedian, and actress. Brunson gained her following from her self-produced Instagram series
“Girl Who Has Never Been on a Nice Date.” Shortly after that, she began her career working at BuzzFeed where she produced and acted and even developed two streaming series with BuzzFeed Motion Pictures.
Brunson’s new hit show Abbott Elementary has been getting a lot of attention.

The show has recently won four awards at the Television Critics Association Awards which was the night’s top winner. Brunson herself made Emmy history bringing in seven nominations including the lead actress in a comedy, outstanding comedy series, and outstanding writing for a comedy series. Quinta Brunson has definitely been making a statement in the entertainment industry and she isn’t done as Abbott Elementary has gotten renewed for a second season. She recently also signed a multi-year deal with Warner Bros. TV. This would be her very first exclusive overall agreement with a major studio.
