Dancing with the Stars aired its first episode back in 2005 and now almost 20 years later, it continues to be a successful reality television show that pairs celebrities with professional dancers to compete in different dance categories. Some dance styles are contemporary, freestyle, salsa, ballroom dancing, jazz, and more. Each dancing couple conducts fixed dances and competes against other couples in front of judges and an audience who votes and ranks the dancers by points.
The contestants practice every single day and it continues for about eleven to twelve weeks per season. Each week the couples need to learn a brand-new dance. A past contestant, Amy Purdy, stated that practice is something that consumes the dancers in every way possible because “you are there all day and all night.”
Each dancing partner is chosen by the casting producer, Deena Katz. The production team meets all the professional dancers and celebrities to get to know them on a personal level besides what is seen on social media. This month, September 2022, was the start of the new season, 31, which can be watched on Disney+. This season is the first-ever that has been live for Dancing with the Stars as a reality television show. The host of the show is Tyra Banks and her co-host is a previous champion of the show. The dancing couples of this season are as follows: Gabby Windey, the bachelorette star, paired with Val Chmerkovskiy, Jordin Sparks, singer-songwriter, paired with Brandon Armstrong, Shangela, Drag Queen, paired with Gleb Savchenko, Cheryl Ladd, actress, paired

This season has been one that has been trending all over social media. Thus far there have been two episodes in which two couples have gotten eliminated. In the first round, Premiere Night Party, Jason Lewis and Peta Murgatroyd got eliminated and in the second round, Elvis Night, Teresa Giudice and Pasha Pashkov got eliminated. This week’s episode was “Elvis Week,” where Charlie and her dancing partner Mark scored the highest. In addition, Cheryl and Louis performed the tango, which unfortunately did not score highly because they are the bottom two.
Not only are there couples dance scoring, but there are also individual dance scores. Charlie D’Amelio has scored the highest two weeks in a row while dancing the cha-cha-cha and quickstep. Wayne Brady and Gabby Windey have also scored very highly while performing the dance jive and Viennese waltz.

Although it has only been two weeks of the new season, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out and overall who wins this competition. Who do you think will win? Stay tuned on Disney+.
